Wei Kui wins overall as Lv Xianjing rules on Snow Mountain

An epic battle unfolded on Lijiang's majestic Jade Dragon Snow Mountain today as Wei Kui managed to drop the altitude-suffering John Cattrall eventually to claim the 1st Yunnan Granfondo Tour! King of the Mountain was once again the 16-year-old wonderboy Lv Xianjing.

Van de Vall takes stage; Cattrall the GC lead

Stage 4 of the Yunnan Granfondo Cycling Tour went to Dutchman Lars Van de Vall, who attacked out of a 4-man breakaway group on a slope four kilometres before he finish in the old town of Dali. England's John Cattrall was part of the frontrunners and grabbed the leader's jersey at the expense of Wei Kui, who suffered a puncture.

16-year-old Lv Xianjing unbeatable in Mt Zixi TT

The local teenage armada continues to astonish people in the Yunnan Granfondo Tour: 16-year-old Lx Xianjing today destroyed the opposition on the Mount Zixi (2480m) mountain time trial. The kid, allegedly recovered from illness earlier this week, beat Mongolia's Myagmarsuren Baasankhuu into second place by 1'30'! Wei Kui - ninth today - retained the green leader's jersey.

Teenagers rule in Yuxi

The 2nd stage of the Yunnan Granfondo Cycling Festival in Yuxi witnessed an astonishing coup of a local Yunnan sports school team. No fewer than four teenagers between 16 and 18 (i.e. juniors) sprinted for victory after 179km and that after they had blown up the race from the start. Fu Qiang took the flowers.

Taiwan's Zhu Fanxin finishes Specialized's team effort

The first edition of the Colourful Yunnan Granfondo Cycling Festival started in Kunming today in dry and near perfect cycling conditions. Roughly 800 participants rode either 114km or 42km to or around Dianchi Lake. Zhu Fanxin won the long distance stage in a sprint with four.
